📢 A Message from the Linn County Assessor’s Office

We’ve recently received a number of questions and calls about property taxes, statements and payments, so we’d like to take a moment to clarify what the Assessor’s Office is responsible for — and what we are not.

✅ Our Office Handles:

  • Determining a fair value of real estate and personal property for tax purposes (We do not set tax rates)
  • Maintaining property records and assessment information
  • Processing assessment lists and changes to property ownership
  • Assisting taxpayers with questions about their property values or assessments

🚫 We Do NOT Handle:

  • The Mailing of tax statements
  • Tax bill collection or payment processing
  • Issuing receipts for paid taxes
  • Delinquent tax inquiries or late payment penalties

Those functions are handled by the Collector’s Office.

If you have questions about your property value, assessment notices, or assessment lists, please contact us at 📞 660-895-5387 opt 5 or 6 or visit our office — we’re happy to help.

If your questions are about tax statement-bills, payments, or receipts, please contact the Collector’s Office directly at 📞 660-895-5387 opt4

Thank you for helping us keep county business running smoothly, and for your continued cooperation and understanding.

Christy Techau-Dover, Assessor - Linn County Assessor’s Office
